Getting involved as a volunteer with the PalliAmi Foundation means beginning a human journey grounded in listening, kindness, and respect for the people being supported. To ensure quality accompaniment, each application is carefully reviewed and each volunteer receives training adapted to their role.

Before beginning their commitment, all volunteers complete specialised training offered free of charge by the Foundation. This training prepares volunteers to accompany people and their loved ones with sensitivity, respect, and humanity.

The training covers a variety of topics, including:

  • the realities of palliative care and end of life;
  • the experience of bereaved people;
  • active listening and compassionate communication;
  • the volunteer’s role and limits;
  • attitudes that foster an empathetic and respectful presence;
  • emotional issues related to accompaniment.

Throughout their involvement, volunteers also benefit from support meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to promote their well-being and support the quality of the accompaniment they provide.

To join our team:

  • submit your application by sending us your CV and a cover letter;
  • take part in a one-on-one interview to discuss your background, motivations, and interest in accompaniment;
  • complete the required training related to the type of volunteering chosen (accompanying people at the end of life or bereaved people);
  • complete a supervised placement alongside an experienced volunteer;
  • complete the final assessment leading to integration into the PalliAmi volunteer team.

To submit your application or for more information, please contact Line Leblond, Volunteer Coordinator, by email at lleblond@palliami.org or by phone at 514-413-8777, ext. 127-434.
