Accompanying people in palliative care, at the end of life, and their loved ones
Accompaniment for people at the end of life consists of offering a comforting human presence to people admitted to the Palliative Care Unit at Hôpital Notre-Dame, as well as to their loved ones. Through listening, empathy, and kindness, volunteers help break isolation and bring a little gentleness to a moment often filled with emotion and uncertainty.
Being an accompaniment volunteer is, above all, about being present: listening, welcoming silence, supporting loved ones, and offering a space filled with dignity and compassion.
Accompanying bereaved people
Accompaniment for bereaved people aims to support those going through the loss of a loved one. Volunteers offer attentive listening and a safe space where people can express their emotions, their experience, and their grief at their own pace.
Through their warm and non-judgmental presence, volunteers help reduce isolation and remind bereaved people that they are not alone in this ordeal.
