Thanks to the generosity of many donors and partners, the PalliAmi Foundation offers a wide range of services to people at the end of life, their loved ones, and people who are grieving. Trained volunteers and care providers, available on a regular schedule or on request, look after their well-being. They provide personalised care at no cost whatsoever.

End-of-life accompaniment

Our volunteers are present in the palliative care unit to respond to patients’ needs. Trained in active listening, they receive memories, pain and joy with complete confidentiality and accompany patients through this final stage of life.

Compassionate writing

We all need to leave a trace, express our feelings and deepest thoughts to our loved ones, and find comfort in sharing our final words before we leave. This service gives patients the opportunity to send messages, share memories, or express their thoughts to loved ones, even as their strength declines.

Holidays — New Year’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas

Because every minute counts, the Foundation marks the various holidays throughout the year. Patients, families and friends are invited to join us for celebrations around sumptuous buffets, allowing them to set illness aside for a moment and create happy memories.

Friday “sucre à la crème”

Every Friday, patients and their loved ones enjoy delicious sucre à la crème. It’s a sweet little treat for those with a sweet tooth, as well as an opportunity to chat with our accompaniment volunteers who distribute it.

Support for bereaved people

The PalliAmi Foundation offers grief support services to better meet the needs of bereaved people across Québec. This free and confidential service takes the form of individual or group accompaniment.

Individual meetings

Whether held in person or by phone, this service is designed to allow grieving people to open up, share memories, and express the emotions they are carrying, while receiving empathetic, non-judgmental listening to help them cope better with their grief.

Group meetings

Facing the death of a loved one is often a painful and difficult life experience to go through. Depending on demand, the PalliAmi Foundation offers in-person or virtual support workshops for grieving people. These meetings, which run over ten weeks, address various grief-related themes. They allow participants to connect with others who are going through a similar experience and help them get through the ordeal as best they can.
